Las Vegas: Casinos in fear of renewed lockdown

Las Vegas: Casinos in fear of renewed lockdown

The gambling city of Las Vegas has faced a whole new set of challenges in recent months. As is well known, the lights never go out in Nevada. At least that was the case until the Corona pandemic. In the meantime, the U.S. seems to have put the toughest part of the pandemic behind it. Recently, all casinos in Las Vegas reopened, and at the same time, many restrictions were lifted. Now, however, the roll backward threatens. The mask obligation is introduced since few days again. And the casinos tremble for fear of a renewed lockdown.

Mask obligation already back: Does Las Vegas threaten a lockdown again?

Just recently it seemed as if the USA could free itself from the stranglehold of the pandemic. Now, however, the United States is threatened with a roll backward. And with it, the gambling city of Las Vegas. In Nevada, the mask requirement was reintroduced at the end of July, reported on the website www.luckylife.in. The responsible governor Sislolak explained that the mask obligation would apply in highly frequented indoor areas. In the future, the covering would also be compulsory for those who had already received their Corona vaccination. So after only a few days of "freedom", noticeable cuts in public life are now following again.

It was only at the end of May that the Plexiglas walls in the casinos were dismantled and the mask requirement that had applied until then was lifted. After a few days, this is now again back. Already in the past week, the mask obligation was again introduced already for the employees. Guests must likewise adhere to the new regulation since the beginning of August.

Player city stands possibly again before a hard time

The reason for the tightened regulations lies in rising corona numbers in the USA. The Delta variant in particular is spreading over a large area here. Some major events are also likely to be affected by the development. Just a few days ago, it was announced that the WSOP 2021 will probably have to be played with fewer participants. A decline in player numbers is also likely to be felt again throughout Las Vegas in the coming months. Just a few days ago, the U.S. government again commented on travel regulations. It seems hard to imagine that Europeans will be able to enter the gambling city by the fall. This, of course, also affects poker players who wanted to travel to the World Series.
