Borussia Monchengladbach discontinues cooperation with Unibet
In 2019, Borussia Monchengladbach announced the joyful news of having reached a cooperation with online casino Unibet. The bookmaker became the official betting partner of the German soccer club. The deal from January 2019 has now been cancelled for the time being. Three years on, the gambling company has still not received a license from the German Gaming Authority.
Remarkable, since the cooperation was supposed to continue until the summer of 2022. Advertising no longer visible
Although Unibet had not yet received a license, the club decided to advertise the bookmaker conspicuously over the past three seasons. In the stadium there were usually several advertisements of Unibet, but they were absent in the last home game. The soccer club Borussia Mönchengladbach announced that it was not aware of the fact that advertising for Unibet was not allowed. According to the club from the Bundesliga, the bookmaker would meet the requirements for a license, which it did not have at that time. Borussia Mönchengladbach has now changed its mind and ended the cooperation.
Return as sponsor
It is as yet unclear whether Unibet will return as a sponsor when it does have a license. The license application was submitted to the German Gaming Authority a year ago. Until then, the podcast of Borussia Mönchengladbach will no longer go through life as the 'Unibet-Fohlen-Podcast'.
